Do You Want To Be A Better Photographer?
5. July 2009
Peter Dawson
You been there before. You go on holidays and take lots of photos of all those stunning sights and the wonderful places you went to. But you get home, you look at your photos and you’re always disappointed. They look lifeless and dull and ordinary.
You wanted to convey so many things in your photos. That special sunset. That light that just turned the view into something special. And that moment when you took that delightful smile on your girlfriends face. Except that when you view your photos none of those things are there.
I don’t mean that you’ve made simple errors like putting your thumb over the lens or anything dumb like that, you’re too good a photographer for that and you’ve got a great camera. And you’ve spent some time learning how to use it. You’ve expected now that your photos should look good.
But every time you look at your photos you’re disappointed in the result and wonder why you aren’t taking better photos. They just don’t convey what you wanted them to convey.
You can find that it’s only a small step to go from a photo dunce to a photo pro. All you need is some basic understanding of some of the simple steps that every professional photographer knows.
Like simple stuff such as how to compose a photo properly, how to use light to it’s best advantage. How to take people and pets. How to take landscapes, how to use a tripod or flash properly.
Clearly modern cameras are very good, but it isn’t sufficient to rely just on that. Although they are good you still need to know how to take a good photo, the camera hasn’t been made that you can just point and shoot and expect great photos every time. You need to put in some effort.
I’m sure that if they could build one they would, but to date the technology doesn’t exist to build a camera that will take great photos regardless of the skills of the person behind the lens. Even with the technology behind great digital cameras you still need to learn some basic photography skills to take good photos each time.
It’s not hard, you need to practice a little, but you enjoy photography so you’ll enjoy practicing. You need to learn some of the secrets of the pros and apply them.
You’ll go on holidays next time feeling confident with good reason. You’ll be able to be confident to hand them around to your friends and you might even find them asking you for some good photography tips.
And you’ll be pleased to see your girlfriend smiling your photos too.
You can get a book on how to take good photos on my website.

Top 10 Best US cities for International Student Travel
5. July 2009
Shawn Everett
You want to visit the USA to see and experience America in the most fulfilling way possible but are limited in time and finances to do so. Many international students face this same dilemma and know it is impossible to see it all. They need to choose the cities that offer them the most opportunity to see, experience, and live American culture.
Here is a comprehensive look at the top 10 best US cities for those of you looking to travel to the US and to see the best. Read and decide for yourself where you want to travel and experience while here.
1. New York City
How can you not visit the Big Apple? It is a truly extreme city, featuring the best, the worst, the most luxurious, the tallest skyscrapers - it is uniquely American although it is supremely international. I find the only fallacy is that New Yorkers are rude; they are very busy and not very patient, but also can be helpful and outgoing.
2. America’s capital, Washington D.C.
Washington D.C. is home to more national treasures and monuments than any other city in the US. Washington is home to the “Mall” featuring symmetrical displayed galleries, museums, and monuments that are relatively free of charge. Take time to visit Washington D.C. while in the US.
3. Boston, Massachusetts
This city really has it all, and is the location of more students per capita than anywhere else. Sure, Harvard and MIT are here, but so are more than 100 colleges and universities, and it is rumored that the best English is spoken here. The vibe is European - summer and autumn are particularly beautiful.
4. San Francisco
Cool fog on a hillside, hot restaurants to explore while roaming through ecelctic neighborhood, diverse cultures to experience. This is San Francisco and this is one of the most beautiful cities in the US. There are numerous tourist attractions and tourist find that there is a calm, laid back attitude of the people who live there which makes it a welcoming place to visit.
5. Chicago, Illinois
Chicago is a city with it’s roots deeply planted in the heart of music. Chicago is a large city with superb restaurants and sophisticated amenities all while maintaining the small town feel with their friendliness. Chicago is a great middle point to visit on your trip across the US from West to East coast.
6. LA, California
LA is like a series of highways connected together overlapping than a city with a clear center to it. You will need a car and a lot of patience but making the drive to the beautiful beaches of Santa Monica, star watching in Hollywood, shopping on Rodeo Drive, and staring at the mansions of Beverly Hills is worth the trip. The area is very spread out and overall there is a mellow feel to the entire area.
7. Miami
Unbelievable beaches in a tropical environment year round, Miami located in Southern Florida is full of Latin American flair all without needing a passport. Try out Little Havana for some “Ropa Veija” and authentic Cuban dish you will not soon forget.
8. Orlando
Not so much a city as a “Theme park destination” (that’s how they market themselves), this place is for you if have a Disney fascination or just love high-adrenalin thrill rides at Universal Studios or Sea World. Very exciting and also exhausting, don’t come here to relax.
9. Las Vegas
If you want a non-stop party from morning ’til night then Las vegas is the city for you. With casinos galore, shows that make you cheer, great food, and shopping from around the world Las Vegas is a city that has something for everyone. Just don’t count on that something being the jackpot. That takes a whole lot of luck!
10. San Diego
With its great weather, miles of sandy beaches, and major attractions, San Diego is known worldwide as one of the best tourist destinations for people of all ages and form all backgrounds. Known for any things but you cannot visit here without visiting the best zo in the country.
Bon voyage!(French) Have a good trip!

Where To Stay In Havana?
5. July 2009
Jose Garces
I get this question all the time and I always try to get as much information as possible from my clients in order to recommend the best hotel in Havana for them. As I am not going to be able to do this now I will be as fair as I can be and I will leave down to you which hotel to go for.
Most people?s preference in terms of location is hotels which are located in the Old Town area. This municipality is blessed with so many beautiful old palaces and fortresses dating back from the Seventeenth and Eighteenth Century.
One of my favourite hotels in Havana has to be Santa Isabel Hotel located in the very place where Havana was founded almost 500 years ago. It is very cozy and intimate as it house only 27 rooms of which 4 are Junior Suites with beautiful terraces over looking Plaza de Armas.
Saratoga Hotel is probably one of the few hotels in Havana that deserve a 5 star category. From the roof top swimming pool you can admire the splendor of the Old Town while relaxing on a sun bed. This hotel has 96 rooms divided in suites, junior suites and deluxe patio rooms.
This is my very favorite hotel ? 5 * NH Parque Central. Its excellence in service is second to none in the whole of Cuba. Beautiful lobby, roof top swimming pool with Jacuzzi overlooking the Old Town skyline, large rooms decorated with furniture from the Fifteenth Century this hotel really does it for me.
If you are looking for something cheaper but still you want to have a bit of comfort in your accommodation the why not try one of the 3 star hotels in the Old Town Such as Comendador, Beltran de Santa Cruz, Hostal Valencia or Park View Hotel.
I hope I managed to give you a starting point to organizing your holidays by suggesting you the best hotels in Havana and look forward to your visit to www.quest2cuba.co.uk

Is Dual Citizenship Financially And Fiscally Responsible?
5. July 2009
Frank Muller
There are many multi-national companies and businesses whose executives and even the corporation itself that have dual citizenship status on one or more countries (other than their country of origin) that they are doing business in so that they can legally do business in those countries. There are pros and cons to a corporations executives holding dual citizenship that need to be explored.
Those that are dealing with business immigration for the sake of expanding your business and making the global economy a little better really need to discuss those matters with an attorney that is certified and able to handle business law.
You are going to regret it if you do not consult with an attorney that deals with business law in general and investment immigration (as well as business immigration) as a specialty. There are many different laws involving taxes and financial responsibilities that you might not be aware of. These are things that you need to pay attention to.
Are you aware that you might have your second passport and possibly your second citizenship revoked or placed in jeopardy for either not adhering to the tax laws or the military service requirements that are part of citizenship of just about any country on Earth? This is what many forget about.
Are you looking to create some income-producing opportunities in a foreign country that will pay you back in the long run? This is basically what investment immigration is about. It is simply that you are investing money in a foreign country when you get a business going and keep it in good standing.
There is one thing that you might not be aware of is that you are probably going to be required to serve time in military service connected with the country (or countries) that you have gained dual citizenship for. This might be something else that affects your immigration status altogether.
Those with dual citizenship that are trying to make their mark in the business world really need to pay close attention to all of the laws involved in both countries. Making the mistake of not paying attention to the laws and rules involved is not going to sit too well.
Dual citizenship carries more advantages than people realize, yet dual citizenship also entails much more financial and civic responsibility to those that you are working with.

America And The Commercialization Of Halloween
5. July 2009
Benedict Yossarian
Although some places in the U.S. don’t really celebrate Halloween, it is still one of the most famous holidays in the country. When it comes to commercial potential, Halloween is just behind Christmas in popularity and commercial potential.
Commercial value
Halloween is well-liked by children and adults. There is also a broad assortment of adult activities for Halloween. Ever since a columnist of New York Times declared the world flat, international parades such as The Greenwich Village Halloween parade draws more than one million individuals per year.
Halloween not only gives an excuse for people to wear silly outfits and entertain people, but it also helps the local economy a lot. The Greenwich Village Halloween parade even contributes as much as 60 million dollars in one year. Because of its contribution to the local economy, even religious societies are willing to help just to keep the holiday as big as it is.
America and Canada
The Halloween festivities in Canada have been observed to generate roughly seven hundred million dollars in earnings. On average, American households spend around forty-five dollars for the Halloween celebration. Young urban professionals typically spend more for Halloween festivities.
The whole figure for the United States economy amounts to about $6.8 billion. The products that often make a large profit during Halloween are:
- Candies/Chocolates
- Costumes
- Cards
- Party Supplies
Taking It Easy
Everybody knows that you can get a free pass to go crazy on Halloween. It’s the time of year wherein you can let your hair down. Usually, the reason for the celebrations doesn’t really matter. All that matters to most people is the thought that they can go out with friends, party, drink and have a good time.
Ultimately, it is safe to say that Halloween continues to be celebrated mainly because of the adult appropriation of the celebration. Without the commercialization of the celebration, it would’ve most likely been forgotten. With all the negative aspects of its origin, it seems that this ancient-rooted celebration will only survive in the modern times by associating it with more acceptable and enjoyable aspects of life.
Problems
The annual Halloween celebration somehow conflicts with the conservative and religious principles. This is mainly due to two very sensitive and controversial issues:
- Homosexuality
- Alcohol use
Homosexuality (which includes men and women) is very rampant during Halloween since everybody feels it’s the time of year when you can do anything you want and express yourself freely. Alcohol use on the other hand is a very big issue, since beer and hard liquor companies take advantage of the festivities to promote their products. Most Halloween parties are “all nighters” and booze is free-flowing.
More beer translates to more freedom: and the Halloween becomes the pinnacle of personal hedonism and liberty. Compared to the Yuletide season where people are encouraged to not drink and instead buy electronic goods, Halloween is the much-awaited free-for-all.
The stronghold of Halloween is still North America; however, this does not mean that it’s not being exported to the global south. It’s not unusual to see countries with no mass memory of the celebration to start buying Halloween-themed products and commodities.
In the United Kingdom, there is a move to renew the popularity of Halloween through masks, candies and events like the Bonfire Night.

Trevor Gibson
Those searching for answers to their many questions about second citizenship and immigration will find that there are many places you can look. You are not alone in this matter. Many people who have decided to check out websites such as right-way.net to look for the answers that they need.
You need to ask how long you will need to wait before you get all of your documents and paperwork that allow you to travel about freely in regards to your new second home country. As far as getting solid answers to your finance-related questions; you will find so very information posted on right-way.net about fees involved.
It goes without saying that you are going to be paying some type of fee for having your dual citizenship request processed and granted. The questions that you need answered can be answered by immigration officials in this respect. However, you can also find this information by simply asking local officials the questions you need answered.
What if you are looking to start investing in another country? How do you go about finding out what you need to do in order to be able to invest in a foreign country? Those looking for answers to this type of question could check www.right-way.net.
Those looking for information about the countries that are the easiest (not necessarily the least expensive) to get into in regards to second citizenship need to know where to look for information that is reliable and good. There is no point in looking up information that is useless (or outdated) is there?
The information that you need in this case is also very easily found; if you know where to look. You will need to ask someone familiar with the immigration laws what type(s) of travel visas and paperwork you are going to need to be able to freely in and out.
